13 June 2023 – Ansell Limited (ASX:ANN), a global leader in personal protection safety solutions, announced today that John Bevan will retire as Chairman and a Non-Executive Director of Ansell, effective from 24 October 2023.
Nigel Garrard, currently an independent Non-Executive Director, will replace Mr Bevan as Chairman effective from this date.
After joining the Ansell Board in 2012 as an independent Non-Executive Director, Mr Bevan was appointed Deputy Chairman in 2017 and Chairman in 2019.
Mr Bevan said: “It has been an honour to serve on the Ansell Board for almost 12 years and to be involved in the group’s evolution over this time. Ansell has maintained a leading position in the PPE industry, supported by its extensive product portfolio, geographical reach, unique capabilities and a commitment to strive for leadership in social and environmental performance. This was particularly evident as we navigated the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Neil Salmon and his management team have adapted the Company successfully to the market changes that the pandemic created.”
“With the company on a solid platform after the disruption of COVID-19 and its immediate aftermath, and with Neil Salmon well established as Managing Director and CEO, I believe it is now timely to transition someone else into the role,” he said.

Mr. Garrard joined the Ansell Board in March 2020. An experienced executive with a successful track record across the FMCG and Industrial/Manufacturing sectors, Mr Garrard served a combined 20 years as CEO of three ASX-listed companies. As well as his role on Ansell’s Board, he is currently Chairman of Flinders Port Holdings and McMahon Services Advisory Board and is a Non- Executive Director of CSR Limited and ALS Limited.
Mr. Garrard said: “It is a privilege to be appointed Chairman of Ansell and to succeed John, who has adeptly led the Board over the last six years. Mr Garrard will step down as Chair of the Human Resources Committee, effective on 24 October 2023. He will be succeeded as Chair of this Committee by independent and Non-Executive Director, Christine Yan.
