It has been 10 years since Ansell acquired the Swedish company Trelleborg Protective Products, making Ansell the home of the leading personal protection brands TRELLCHEM® and VIKING™.
Best-in-class body protection
TRELLCHEM® has been a well-established brand in the gas-tight protective clothing market since the 1980s, earning the trust of all users in industrial, military and emergency applications. In 2015, Ansell also acquired UK-based Microgard® , a protective clothing specialist, and together with Ansell's range of chemical protective gloves, a portfolio of premium chemical protection solutions was launched.
A modern brand for a modern era
Ansell's acquisitions justified an innovative brand and, in 2017, the AlphaTec® brand became the new home for Ansell's chemical protection solutions, incorporating previous brands of Microgard®; and TRELLCHEM®. By adopting the market-leading technologies and solutions available to Ansell and developing new and improved innovations, the AlphaTec® portfolio provides a full range of multi-hazard protection, taking users well beyond chemical safety. As a result, AlphaTec® products have protected thousands of users around the world with the highest levels of protection, comfort and confidence to perform tasks safely despite the various risks and hazards they face.
Keeping divers safe in hazardous environments
Along with our chemical protection solutions, VIKING™ is Ansell's solution that keeps marine workers and divers safe in highly hazardous water conditions, offering the highest quality drysuits to combat the dangers of diving in contaminated waters. Over the past 30 years, our suits have been used in many aquatic emergencies: protecting rescuers at the Costa Concordia cruise ship wreck in Italy, the restoration and cleanup of the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster in Japan, and the emergency rescue of passengers and crew aboard US Airways Flight 1549 that made an emergency landing in New York's Hudson River, among others.

The AlphaTec® brand trades on pride, knowledge and experience gained from its rich history of acquired security solutions, but looking ahead is what we do best. This year has already seen the North American launch of the new BSL-4 ventilated suit for use in the highest level biosafety laboratories on Earth.
