The importance of permeation in chemical protective gloves

How to choose the right chemical protective gloves?

Within this sector, permeation time is essential and is defined by the time it takes for a chemical to permeate the glove at the molecular level. This time is determined by a test that is regulated by the European Union standard EN 16523-1:2015 + A1:2018.

The test applies to both nitrile and latex gloves and measures their effectiveness when exposed to a chemical. In turn, to be efficient, they must comply with the formula 1 mg/minute/square centimeter. This translates into six levels of protection. The maximum is number 6, with 480 minutes of permeation time. Number 1, on the other hand, is only 30 minutes long.
