Ansell engineers complete Energy Manager Certification

From May 14 to 18, the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) training program was conducted by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) for 21 Ansell engineers from Sri Lanka, Bangkok, Vietnam and Malaysia. The training program was led by two senior lecturers, Dr. Eric Woodroof (pictured right) and Louis Lagrange (pictured left) from AEE at Ansell Lanka Training Centre.

The CEM training program covered relevant areas of energy conservation that could be adapted for Ansell manufacturing sites, including electrical, thermal, pneumatic, control systems and finances. This training will help to enable Ansell engineers in determining areas of possible energy wastage and mitigate them effectively with economical energy solutions to achieve the Company's energy targets.

What is Energy Management?

Energy Management is the process of monitoring, controlling and conserving energy in a manufacturing facility. Due to the rapid increase in demand for energy, the risk of increased energy prices or supply shortages could greatly affect the profitability. Through energy management, this risk can be scaled down by decreasing the demand for energy and controlling it.

Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)

The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) is a nonprofit professional society with over 18,000 members in 100 countries. Founded in 1977, AEE's mission is to promote the scientific and educational interest of those engaged in energy management as well as encourage action for sustainable development.

The purpose of the CEM training offered by AEE is to increase awareness and educate engineers on how to optimize energy performance of a facility, building or industrial plant. The program helps individuals analyze electrical, mechanical and building infrastructure optimization solutions to decrease energy consumption.
