Does neoprene contain latex? Reduce Allergies

Neoprene gloves are a safe alternative to latex for those with Type IV skin allergies and are used in a variety of industrial and life sciences applications. Ansell offers a variety of neoprene gloves and other latex-free solutions such as nitrile gloves. This allows workers with Type IV skin allergies to have a full range of options.

Latex refers to the natural rubber latex manufactured from a milky fluid that is primarily obtained from the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis). An estimated 8-17% of occupational workers have a natural rubber latex allergy. Those allergic to latex proteins may have minor reactions such as skin rashes, but in more serious cases, the reactions could be life-threatening. Other latex products beyond latex gloves can also lead to allergic reactions such as swelling, cracking, blisters, dryness, allergic contact dermatitis, or erythema.

Providing latex-free options to workers in life sciences and industrial industries without compromising protection or performance is critical. Our neoprene gloves minimize the risk of a latex-induced allergic reaction while maintaining the strength, durability, and chemical protection necessary to meet safety standards. They are formulated for extra sensitivity, with flexibility and comfort.

In the table below, you can see how neoprene compares to nitrile, which is another popular latex-free alternative.

Ansell has a solution for the allergy protection you need. We currently offer multiple neoprene gloves from MICROFLEX®, TouchNTuff® and AlphaTec®, all of which maximize comfort and performance without risk of allergy. Learn more about your non-latex options here.
