Still Confused with EN ISO 374?

Understand the key changes in 3 minutes

In November 2016, the standard was changed to address the following needs:

a) To ensure consistency between test results
b) To better assist users in their glove choices by more accurately reflecting the chemicals being used throughout the industry.

The standard established three new tiers for glove permeation protection:

  • EN ISO 374-1/ Type C – At least Level 1 performance (more than 10 minutes) against at least one chemical on the list.
  • EN ISO 374-1/Type B – At least Level 2 performance (more than 30 minutes) against at least three chemicals on the list.
  • EN ISO 374-1/Type A – At least Level 2 performance (more than 30 minutes) against at least six chemicals on the list.

The standard also now has an expanded chemical range and includes six additional common workplace chemicals. In addition to testing for protection from bacteria and fungi, each glove can now be tested for its protection against viruses with a new viral penetration test.
