August 2020, Brussels – Ansell, a global leader in protection solutions, has joined the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology (SOFHT) - the independent membership organisation for the UK food industry - as a Gold Member.
Formed in Australia, Ansell has been in business for over 125 years and is a global company with a truly international perspective focusing exclusively on healthcare products, including personal protective equipment (PPE). Ansell’s protective gloves boast a range of sub brands – HyFlex®, Gammex®, AlphaTec® and MICROFLEX® - for medical and industrial use, and its full PPE portfolio encompasses a range of protective equipment for all parts of the body that totals over 600 products.
Membership of SOFHT reflects how Ansell’s guiding spirit of ownership and pride in its products has consistently fuelled its sense of responsibility. It explains why the company is viewed as a combination of leader, mentor and guide to its customers and the international PPE community. Ansell has an acute understanding of the food industry and a clear commitment to offering solutions to the challenges that predominate.
Ansell is committed to developing effective and operationally efficient PPE that utilises the most up-to-date and appropriate technology to ensure the optimum safety of its customers. In addition to its acknowledged position as a global leader in protection solutions, Ansell is also an authority on the certification of regulated products, with considerable experience in navigating effectively through complex rules, regulations and standards around the world.
Philip Balden, Ansell, states: “Ansell is delighted to join SOFHT and contribute to the lively debate, expertise, and networking opportunities that membership provides. Ansell is justifiably renowned for its wider commitment to the PPE industry globally and our innate sense of responsibility and leadership in everything we do. It’s not enough for us to simply manufacture and sell PPE to our customers across the world. Ansell has continually sought engagement to ensure that our products and their technical development meet the safety needs of the food industry, while offering appropriate and trustworthy solutions. Many of the society’s goals are mutual to our aims and we look forward to engaging on food safety and hygiene standards on all levels of debate - and in sharing current best practice - in what is a highly-respected forum in the industry.”
Ansell recognize the breadth of workplace hazards and the multiple injury risks workers face within the food and beverage sector, which make the selection of appropriate PPE such a key imperative for society members. Membership of SOFHT will ensure Ansell’s participation in a two-way conversation with the wider industry. It will help ensure that each remains equally knowledgeable of any challenges and able to respond accordingly to future developments. Ansell sees part of its role as providing insight, expertise and information so that fellow participants in the sector can make well informed decisions on their own safety needs; whether that be for gloves, or protective clothing and apparel, or for an extensive integrated safety program.
