GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY MARKS CONSTRUCTION START OF PROJECT TOPAZ

2019 marked an important new chapter for the Healthcare GBU (HGBU) and Ansell Thailand, with the groundbreaking ceremony of the new capacity expansion, also known as Project TOPAZ. The expansion represents a new era of excellence in developing innovative manufacturing processes for the Lat Krabang operation.

Construction began in May 2019 with mobilization, fencing and site clearance. The piling work has begun in July and the construction of the main building has started in August 2019.

The new facility will occupy of a 12,000-square-meter area and is part of the total project cost of $32 million USD. The new expansion will enable Ansell to double the plant capacity in the next two years and features innovative manufacturing technologies, including a new biomass boiler to provide clean, renewable energy and lower energy costs.

“This is an investment not only in our production capabilities but also in minimizing the environmental impact of our global footprint,” says Magnus Nicolin, Ansell’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

Construction is expected to be completed by May 2020, with commercial production tentatively scheduled to begin in December 2020.
