Ansell Announced as Winner under the Safety & Health Category from WSH Asia 2024

September 2024, Cyberjaya, Malaysia – Ansell, a global leader in protection solutions, has won the 2024 World of Safety & Health Asia Award under the Safety & Health Category. This win recognizes the innovative GAMMEX® PI Plus Glove-in-Glove™ System – a unique two-in-one double gloving system – for its excellence in improving surgical safety and efficiency. The system’s user-centric design, combined with its ergonomic comfort, low allergenicity, and commitment to sustainability, underscores Ansell's dedication to improving the healthcare environment.

GAMMEX® PI Plus Glove-in-Glove™ System addresses common challenges associated with double gloving – such as ease of donning and the time needed to double glove – to promote better compliance with recommended best practices. It comes with a pair of green inner and white outer polyisoprene surgical gloves that are already pre-donned and aligned at the fingertips, enabling wearers to double glove in one don and save half the donning time. Additionally, its intentional two-in-one design also easily allows healthcare professionals to detect a breach in their outer glove, and subsequently allow prompt replacement of gloves during surgeries. A study found that double gloving with a colored inner glove increases visual breach identification by up to 86%1.

Both inner and outer gloves are formulated with its advanced skin-friendly technology (PI-KARE™ Technology). As a result, GAMMEX® PI Plus Glove-in-Glove™ System’s low allergenicity profile presents no risk of latex allergies and at the same time do not contain any of the standard chemical accelerators traditionally known to cause allergic contact dermatitis.

Through collaborations with customers, Ansell have come to understand the associated workplace risks in the healthcare setting and have designed our gloves to prioritize comfort throughout tedious or repetitive tasks in a healthcare setting. The GAMMEX® PI Plus Glove-in-Glove™ System has received third party certification from the United States Ergonomics for superb wearer comfort.

As a company that is working towards Net Zero by 2040, Ansell is taking every opportunity available to improve our carbon footprint. Being pre-donned, GAMMEX® PI Plus Glove-in-Glove™ System effectively requires half the packaging, thus reducing its overall carbon footprint – the inner and outer sterile gloves are packed in one inner wrap for a 50% reduction of paper & in one recyclable* plastic pouch for a 50% reduction in plastic.

As the industry continues to prioritize both safety and sustainability, GAMMEX® PI Plus Glove-in-Glove™ System stands out as a critical tool for protecting healthcare professionals while also supporting a greener future.
